Calendar months

The steps to the house spark old memories
Of cycle repairs and cigarette ends by the garage next door
Chairs in the garden on warm summer nights
And a piano plays softly
With creaking pedals through the living room wall

And I will fall through calendar months at a time, months at a time

The pebbledash walls chipped away by a tennis ball
And the holes in the lawn
Where the swings used to stand
Replaced by a garden centre statue

And I will fall through calendar months at a time, months at a time

And a piano plays softly
With creaking pedals through the living room wall
